RECAP: Jets 38 Chiefs 31
Alright Chiefs nation, it's officially panic time. The losses to the Giants and Bills both fell on poor offensive performances, but what's the excuse this time? Alex Smith passed and ran the ball well, with 366 passing and 70 rush yards. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce were studs, with two TDs each. What the heck happened? The Jets. The Chiefs started hot, going up 14-0 wicked early in the first half. The Jets would respond with two TD's of their own, however, keeping the game tight until the fourth quarter, when Josh McCown led the Jets to a late TD that put them up 36-31. The following two-point conversion, however, tells the story of the Chief's season so far. The Jets initially failed to score, but a holding call against the Chiefs gave them a second chance. While this was being sorted out, an upset Marcus Peters threw the officials penalty flag in the crowd, which somehow didn't get him ejected. Long story short, the Jets converted and the Chiefs, once again this season, failed to keep up. Kansas City is proof that a team's success does not always lie with the quarterback. Sure, Smith was competent today, but the defense really let him down. The Jets are suddenly in the playoff discussion, while the Chiefs continue to nosedive. Andy Reid suddenly can't control the temper of his own players, while the Jets seem likely Wild Card contenders. Ugh, what a weird season...
